About us
A company organised around engineering judgement
beoranged GmbH is an information technology company. We build custom software and the infrastructure it runs on, and we stay involved once systems are live. This page describes how we work and what we hold ourselves to.
Introduction
Who we are
We work with organisations that already depend on software and need it to be better built: applications that are hard to change, infrastructure that nobody wants to touch, integrations that fail quietly. Our role is to make those systems understandable again and then to extend them safely.
Engagements vary in size, but the method does not. We look at what exists, agree on the outcome, work in small verifiable steps, and leave behind documentation that allows somebody else to continue the work.
Mission
Make dependable technology ordinary
Our mission is to build software that organisations can rely on without thinking about it — systems that behave predictably, can be changed by a normal team, and do not require heroics to keep running.
That means resisting complexity that is not paid for by a real requirement, and investing in the parts of a system that determine how expensive the next five years of changes will be.
Professional values
What we hold ourselves to
- Clarity before code
- A problem that cannot be described in plain English is not ready to be implemented.
- Honest reporting
- Delays, risks and mistakes are communicated when they are noticed, not when they are unavoidable.
- Ownership
- Engineers stay responsible for what they build, including how it behaves after release.
- Simplicity
- The simplest structure that satisfies the requirement is preferred over the most flexible one.
- Readable work
- Code, commits and documentation are written for the next person who has to change them.
- Consistency
- Conventions are agreed once and applied throughout, so systems remain predictable.

Approach to technology
Choosing boring on purpose
We select technology by how well it fits the problem, how well the team can operate it, and how likely it is to still be supportable in several years. Established tools with good documentation usually win over newer ones with better marketing.
Where a system genuinely needs something specialised, we introduce it deliberately: with a written rationale, a defined boundary in the architecture, and a plan for what happens if it has to be replaced.
Approach to quality
Quality is a process, not a phase
Tests are written alongside the behaviour they describe. Every change is reviewed before it merges. Builds run automatically, and a failing pipeline stops a release rather than being worked around.
When something does go wrong, we look for the missing check rather than the person who missed it, and add whatever would have caught it earlier.
Security and privacy
Handled as engineering requirements
Access is granted at the minimum level needed and reviewed as systems change. Secrets live in managed stores, never in repositories. Personal data is collected only where it serves a defined purpose, and retention is designed in rather than assumed.
Dependencies are updated on a regular cadence, and security-relevant changes are treated with the same review rigour as functional ones.
Collaboration
Working with your team, not around it
We work in the open: shared repositories, visible task boards, written decisions and regular checkpoints. Internal engineers are included in reviews so knowledge stays with the organisation rather than leaving when an engagement ends.
Where a client has no in-house engineering capacity, we adjust the level of detail in our communication rather than the level of transparency.

Long-term thinking
Products outlive projects
A release is a checkpoint, not a conclusion. Systems accumulate data, users and integrations, and the decisions that were reasonable at the start need revisiting as that context changes.
We plan for that: modular boundaries that allow parts to be replaced, migrations that can run incrementally, and a maintenance rhythm that keeps dependencies, documentation and monitoring current instead of letting them drift.
